Background of the study
This study investigates the challenges of multimodal translation in Nigerian Pidgin educational videos. As digital learning expands, educational videos are increasingly translated into Nigerian Pidgin to enhance accessibility for a diverse audience. Multimodal translation, which integrates text, audio, and visual elements, poses unique challenges for maintaining consistency and cultural relevance across different modes of communication (Ibrahim, 2023). The study examines how translators balance verbal language, on-screen text, graphics, and audio narration to convey complex educational content. Data is collected through content analysis of educational videos, interviews with translation professionals, and surveys of learner feedback. The research explores technical issues, synchronization problems, and cultural mismatches that occur when combining multiple modalities. The findings will provide insights into best practices and technological solutions to overcome these challenges, thereby improving the quality and effectiveness of Nigerian Pidgin educational videos (Ibrahim, 2023).

Statement of the problem
Multimodal translation in Nigerian Pidgin educational videos faces several challenges, including synchronization errors, loss of contextual cues, and inconsistent integration of audio-visual elements (Ibrahim, 2023). These issues often result in fragmented messages and hinder the effective transmission of educational content. Inadequate coordination between different translation modalities can lead to misinterpretation and decreased learner engagement. This study seeks to identify the specific challenges that arise in multimodal translation and evaluate their impact on the clarity and cultural appropriateness of educational videos, aiming to propose solutions to enhance translation quality.

Objectives of the study:

To identify challenges in multimodal translation for educational videos.

To assess the impact of these challenges on content clarity.

To propose strategies for improving multimodal translation quality.

Research questions:

What technical and cultural challenges affect multimodal translation?

How do these challenges impact educational content delivery?

What solutions can enhance synchronization and integration?

Significance of the study
This study is significant as it addresses the challenges of multimodal translation in Nigerian Pidgin educational videos, aiming to improve learning outcomes and cultural relevance. The findings will guide educators, translators, and technology developers in optimizing translation workflows (Ibrahim, 2023).

Scope and limitations of the study:
This study is limited to multimodal translation in Nigerian Pidgin educational videos, focusing on technical and cultural challenges.

Definitions of terms:

Multimodal translation: The process of translating content using multiple communication modes.

Educational videos: Digital instructional content.

Synchronization: Coordinated integration of audio, text, and visuals.
